Organization Analysis: Professional Case ManagementAccording to PCM (2019), Professional Case Management (PCM) is the best provider of home care in the United States (U.S) for uranium and nuclear weapons workers. Hence, PCM offers services of home care for employees ailing from life-long sicknesses or diseases contracted during their employment course. PCM is a privately held hospital and healthcare organization with approximately 1001 to 5000 employees (Linked In, 2018). Further, as explained in Linked In (2018), PCM was established in 1986 and has its head office or headquarters in Colorado’s capital, Denver; however, other locations include Tennessee, West Virginia, Georgia, and New Mexico. More so, besides the home health care, uranium workers care, and nuclear weapons workers care services, PCM has other specialties that it offers which encompass clinical trials and catastrophic care. Furthermore, PCM has been the best home care services supplier to beneficiaries since 2001 under the Radiation Exposure Compensation Act (RECA) and more so, the Energy Employees Occupational Illness Compensation Program Act (EEOICPA) (Linked In, 2018). It is without a doubt PCM has created robust relationships with communities across the U.S. One of the most significant exemplification of PCM’s strong community relationships is the establishment of Cold War Patriots (CWP) as a PCM’s division to advocate for the uranium and nuclear weapons workers. Further, PCM has a division known as PCM Trials which is a community service program that offers in-home nursing services for clinical trials. Thus, this paper will analyze PCM by providing the organization’s examination, strengths and limitations, the system of care delivery, and outcomes and measurements. Examination of PCMAs explained in PCM (2019), PCM’s mission is to deliver or offer quality health care services with the principal objective of improving patient results or outcomes in their homes’ comfort and privacy. Therefore, committed to supporting its clientele, uranium, and nuclear weapons workers, PCM established CWP which is currently U.S’ leading organization for community resource in support and advocacy for these former workers. According to Linked In (2018), in other words, PCM’s undertaking is to provide health care and other specialties that improve its clients’ life quality in the home. More so, as explained in Tsoukas and Chia (2011), the philosophy of an organization is its long-term and distinctive values and tenets guiding workers or employees. Thus, according to Linked In (2018), PCM reiterates that for the past three decades, its caregivers (employees) have been guided by the fundamental and primary tenets of compassion, experience, concentration or focus, and quality to offer in-home health services of care with the greatest ethics and standards in the health care industry. Therefore, the mission and philosophy of the organization as explained above permits professionals of PCM to provide full services range from assistance with day-to-day activities or monthly visits to round-the-clock, extensive, and continuous care. Furthermore, Meij (2015) indicates an administrative structure is fundamentally an arrangement of the hierarchy of authority lines in an organization. The PCM’s administration structure determines the manner in which the responsibilities, roles, and power are allotted and how the process of workflows among distinct levels of management. As explained in Linked In (2018), PCM’s administration structure involves the shareholders, the board of directors, the president, vice presidents, managers, senior-level employees, and entry-level employees. More so, according to Linked In (2019), the type of organizational structure PCM presents is the hierarchical-functional structure. As explained in Harper (2015), in this kind of structure, every employee of the PCM organization has one explicit supervisor and furthermore, employees are categorized based on the functions they provide or offer. For example, some of the categories of employees at PCM as explained in Indeed (2019) include Registered Nurse (RN) – Home Health, RN-Case Manager, Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN), Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), and RN. It is without a doubt that these categories are based on the functions offered by the employees. Similarly, every employee or category of employees has one clear supervisor which could include LPN manager, RN manager, RN- Home health manager, and LVN manager amongst others (Indeed, 2019). PCM’s Strengths and LimitationsThere are four angles through which scrutiny of the strengths and limitations of PCM would be undertaken. These angles encompass balance between work and life, compensation and benefits, job advancement and security, management, and culture (Indeed, 2019). One of the most significant advantages of PCM particularly for the employees (RN etc.) is the ability to have a good balance between work and life and further, low stress. This is exemplified by a 12-hour shift of one on one patient care, offering knowledgeable, quality care and comfort. More so, PCM pays a good salary to its employees. As explained in Indeed (2019), a review of the organization from a current employee, LPN, stated, “If all you need is good pay, then this is the place to work.” More so, working at PCM is advantageous because of the collaborative rather than competitive culture of the organization. As explained in Barczak, Lassk, and Mulki (2010), a collaborative culture rejuvenate workplaces by ensuring a complete engagement with the employees, elevating innovation, and enhancing retention. More so, a collaborative culture can be responsible for assisting employees to thrive in a diverse, ever-transforming workplace. As stated in Indeed (2019), a former employee of PCM, Support Coordinator Supervisor, reiterated that the staff is very “cooperative and outgoing.””Despite the various strengths of the organization
