Alec GilmoreMarincilin English 926 March 2019Rebellious Even in the 1500’s kids still did not like to listen to anyone. In the play Romeo and Juliet, created by Shakespeare, Romeo and Juliet are rebellious to their parents, friends nurse and Friar Lawrence. The rebellious main characters affect the story in many ways. Shakespeare made the story interesting by adding many dramatic factors such as Romeo and Juliet being rebellious. Romeo and Juliet where rebellious and some examples of that are, when they meet up on the balcony, when Romeo goes to the Capulet’s Party, and falling in love with Juliet.Romeo marrying a capulet makes a whole load of problems throughout the story. It is a problem because their parents would not want them to marry each other, therefore this causes problems. If Juliet’s family was aware of their daily meetings on her balcony, many conflicts would happen between the two families. Juliet shows that she is rebellious when she says, “Sweet, goodnight. This bud of love, by summer’s ripening breath, May prove a beauteous flower when next we meet”. This quote shows that they, in fact, were meeting up and disobeying their parents. Specifically, the line”May prove a beauteous flower when next we meet” draws some attention to it because it shows that they will meet up again. The quote also shows their love for each other which was also most likely forbidden. This can be got out of the part where they state “Sweet, goodnight. This bud of love, by summer’s ripening breath”. They are saying goodnight to each other but the text also shows that they know it has to be secret and must get home quickly because of summer’s ripening breath.Romeo shows an act of rebellion by showing up to the Capulet’s party when he was uninvited. Romeo and Juliet also show rebellion by kissing, even though they were from enemy families. This relates to my theme because the couple was tired of their parents trying to control their relationship, and rebelled against them. In Romeo and Juliet, Juliet got tired of her father telling her whom to marry. A quote from Capulet’s party is ¨My only love, sprung from my only hate! Too early seen unknown, and known too late! Prodigious birth of love it is to me that I must love a loathed enemy.¨ The quote is from the party and shows that Juliet saw Romeo and she is falling in love with him. But it also shows that she is rebellious because she knows he is her enemy but she falls in love with him anyway. Juliet knows that she would not be allowed to date/marry romeo but she wants to anyway. Another quote from the Capulets party is ¨ By love, that first did prompt me to enquire. He lent me counsel and I lent him eyes, I am no pilot, yet, wert thou as far As the vast shore washed with the farthest sea, would adventure for such merchandise. This quote shows how far Romeo will go to be with her. She comments that he is risking his life just to be there, because her family will murder him if they find him. But Romeo does not care, this shows rebellion on Romeos part because he knows he could possibly be killed and his parents would not approve of that. Romeo and Juliet have been rebellious throughout the story. There have been many examples of rebellion that have been shown, and it has always been about their love. An example of this is, when Juliet faked her death to be with Romeo, this shows the most rebellion through the story. It shows the most because it looks like she died. Her parents think she died all because this one boy loves her. That is a lot of rebellion, she faked her death so they could be together and not have her parents intervene. Another quote that shows rebellion is
