While there I have met members of staff who have been very friendly all through my community service experience and were always willing to help where I had some difficulty in doing something. Also not forgetting the environment surrounding there which is nice and cleanliness is the number one priority and due to this, it has always made me look forward to provide my services there every morning. For sure I would recommend other students to consider Ruaraka Clinic as an option to work for your community service even though it might be a distance to some of them.LEARNED EXPERIENCES I have gained knowledge at Ruaraka Clinic. There are a number of things that are an added advantage to the process of growth and development hence impacting positively to my degree at USIU. I have come to learn that life is a journey and one must live it to the fullest through good health care and knowing your health status. Also I learnt that I am gaining more than what I need and that what I consider an essential in my life is a privilege to someone else, a good example is for instance I having a meal is essential, however, there are those who consider that to be a privilege. During and through the community service I learnt to be tolerant in the sense that one has to treat others in a good way. When in an environment surrounded by expectant mothers and mothers, one has to be passionate on what one is doing by give them the maximum attention they deserve. I also learnt to be socially responsible buy interacting with patients because it is of great necessity for one to be part so that you can be able to understand and appreciate different people from all walks of life. I have learnt that I have more than what I need. Nothing in life should be taken for granted. Gaining some kitchen skills, as a man this has come as an added advantage by knowing what type of food to prepare and how to prevent it from losing its nutrition values.EXPECTATION CTIVITIES Every Monday to Wednesday morning, I would arrive by 9:30 a.m. and start by greeting’s then open all the windows then I would look for a duster water and detergent, this is because health centers are not allowed to sweep because there are contamination which one may inhale, . I would then clean the rails and window sills of dust. After which I would mop all the dirt in the various rooms and offices. I would dispose all the dirt in the bins, afterwards I would go to the pharmacy and clean all the shelves, and then sweep and mop the floor thoroughly arrange the medicine. At times, I would go to the kitchen and do cleaning also preparation of tea. This is the routine which I will be doing for those ten weeks.RECOMMENDATIONS Ruaraka Clinic is a nice place I would recommend to my fellow students who may be looking for a place to do their community service, as it is a very good place with hospitable people and also an hospital where one can understand how to be self-aware of ones health. I would like to commend the County Government of Nairobi and EABL for their good gesture for have an health care for their people this a good way of taking care of the people. CONCLUSION Community Service as a course is very beneficial to one’s education. It equipping me with the necessary life skills which I would have not been taught in class other than in the field. I’m extremely humbled that I enrolled for this class this fall semester and through this it has been an added advantage to the process of total quality management that emphasizes on continuous improvement.
