An unintended consequence is the consequence of an event in which you didn’t plan on happening. Romeo and Juliet is a classic tragedy with unintended consequences written by william shakespere it follows the story of two star crossed lovers separated by a family feud. Frier is a good example of an unintended consequence, he decided to marry romeo and juliet. He intended on it ending the montague and capulet feud through this marriage this is shown in Act 2 Scene 3 of romeo and juliet friar states “in respect il thy assistant be for this alliance may so happy prove To turn your households’ rancour to pure love.” this shows that he thought this marriage would fix their family feud. But this makes it much much worse .yet friar marries them and expects the feud to end in act 2 scene 6 friar states “These violent delights have violent ends.” this shows he expected the feud to end. But Romeo and Juliet decide not to tell their parents they were married and this is where the problem forms juliets dad wants her to marry Paris. Juliet made the choice not to marry Paris because she wanted to be with romeo. She hoped she’d be able to continue being with romeo . her plans were foiled due to her father getting upset when she refuses to marry Paris this is shown in act 3 scene 5 of romeo and juliet. “Not proud you have, but thankful that you have. Proud can I never be of what I hate, But thankful even for hate that is meant love.” this causes juliets dad to loose it and he ends up forcing her to marry paris this is also shown in act 3 scene 5 of romeo and juliet capulet states “I pray you, pardon me.”But, an you will not wed, I’ll pardon you!Graze where you will, you shall not house with me. Look to ’t; think on ’t. I do not use to jest. Thursday is near. Lay hand on heart; advise. An you be mine, I’ll give you to my friend. An you be not, hang, beg, starve, die in the streets, For, by my soul, I’ll ne’er acknowledge thee, Nor what is mine shall never do thee good.” so her father begins to threatening her claiming he will basically disown her ,unless she marries paris. Juliet ended up making her situation worse by refusing to marry paris. My last example is the nurse she decides to help Juliet marry romeo. She did this to make Juliet happy instead of doing what was best in the situ
