Test for hypotheses (correlations and regressions) There are three hypotheses that I have in my research to tested. The first hypothesis, if people involve having healthier lifestyle so they can prevent the diabetes in their life. And the second hypothesis, people who doing many activities in their life such as regular exercise, losing weight and don’t smoke that will increase the awareness of people to keep life going. And the last hypothesis, more people who have higher educated will be more awareness about their life than people uneducated. So, when I wanted to test these hypotheses, I found that the hypotheses were rejected according to the result from the data of the respondents.Summary remarks of the data analysis Finally, as we know my research was talked about awareness of diabetes among elderly people in Al Ain. In addition, I collect 107 respondents about this subject and I analyze them. Eventually I found that the largest number of people with diabetes were male which was35. Also, I came up with some important data that indicate that the level of education plays major role in how we can protect our self from this disease as it mentioned in table 8. Overall, I expected that I will get more response about these people who had diabetes as my research talked about the awareness of diabetes, but I faced many issues that prevent me to get more respondents from the age 65 to 75 years. Conclusions As I mentioned before, Diabetes is a disease that occurs when your blood glucose, also called blood sugar, is too high. And, the UAE is one of the countries that have high percent of this disease. The main goal from this research is to know how much people they aware about their disease in their life. Also, I want to know how the diabetes can effects on people? and how people can deal with it? In my literature review I was talked about the theory of planned behaviour By: (Icek Ajzen, 1991). And it is providing a theoretically guided framework for nurse practitioners to develop tailored strategies that include psychosocial support for diabetes self-management. Also, I gave two examples about this theory which were in the United State that diabetes has become widespread and that associate with many reasons including obesity, lack of sports and so on, and other example was the UAE which is Self- Management is one of the most essential elements of a healthy, disease-free life. Many diabetics in the UAE have a lack of knowledge about the quality of their disease and how to deal with it. Lack of awareness of the choice of food quality and lack of exercise may indicate a lack of understanding or presence of the patient ‘s consciousness which leads to a significant risk to the patient’ s life. Self- Management depends on the ability of patients to self-care in their daily lives. Then, I gave the statistics about the UAE that the rate of diabetes in females is bigger than rate of diabetes in men, which is 8.5 percentage. on the other hand, males have low rate of diabetes which is 7.8 percentage. However, the total percentage of diabetes in that year was 8.0 percentage. Where the mortality rate reached 3%. (WHO,2016). My research design was questionnaire of quantitative design(survey) and it was 15 questions and time to answer was 15-20 minutes. The participants were UAE elderly people from the age 55 to 75 years old, and they were 107 participants in my research. The sample description was non-probability sampling which is (convenience). The instruments of my research are online survey, SPSS and face to face. In addition, we can see here there are three hypotheses that I have in my research to tested. The first hypotheses, if people involve having healthier lifestyle so they can prevent the diabetes in their life. And the second hypothesis, people who doing many activities in their life such as regular exercise, losing weight and don’t smoke that will increase the awareness of people to keep life going. And the last hypothesis, more people who have higher educated will be more awareness about their life than people uneducated. So, when I wanted to test these hypotheses, I found that the hypotheses were rejected according to the result from the data of the respondents. So, we can see from the crosstab study the number of uneducated people is dominate on the number of education people. Which I mean, 16 of uneducated people they are satisfied about the information of diabetes by 4 out of 10 and this depend on the experience they get through the years of their disease. This study aimed to know how much people they aware about their disease. And this study based on elderly people citizens in Al Ain. The main question was taking in consider of how the diabetes can affects on people? and how people can deal with it? The research was based on theory of planned behaviour: social support and diabetes self-management, by (Icek Ajzen, 1991). And this theory provides a theoretically guided framework for nurse practitioners to develop tailored strategies that include psychosocial support for diabetes self-management. That nurse practitioners should use theory-guided practice models that include family, friends, providers, and community support in order to improve and sustain diabetes self-management behaviours. so, we can see from this research some of diabetic’s people have awareness to manage diabetes self-management through the level of education or the experience they got through the year of disease. However, the empirical part of this paper was done by a quantitative survey for 107 for both gender male and female of Al Ain citizens between the age 55 and 75. I faced many difficulties during the research. It was difficult to me to distribute the questionnaire in the hospital because it needs a long process and promotion, and also in some hospital the managements of the hospital not allow to me to meet the diabetics people to do with them face to face survey. So, I distribute my survey as long as possible to my family, friends and the students who take class with me. The targeted sample was 200 but I collected only 107. Also, the sample was too limited and focused just among elderly people in Al Ain. If I generalized all Emirates, I will get more responses. So, the reason of that I got only 107 respondents. It is very important projects that should all people to know about it. Also, should increase the awareness of elderly people about the risk of this disease, and how to deal with it. This paper can be useful for the Health Authority in UAE, because it contains a lot of information related to diabetes among the elderly people, especially in the UAE. If I have the ability or opportunity to do again a huge project like that, I will work on it not only in Al Ain I will try to generalize all Emirates. So, I will have more information, knowledge and experience about this research.
